The year 2008 has certainly been an interesting time for people visiting Phuket. This was supposed to be Phuket’s big year in terms of tourism. People wanted to visit the island and it would surely have been a record-breaking high season had Thailand not been plagued by all kinds of political problems.

Despite the protests and airport closures, Phuket remains a great place for a holiday and it will do for years to come. With visitor numbers down, the beaches and streets are less crowded, but the industry is suffering. Who knows what the next year will bring, but for the sake of tourism on the island, all of us here hope for nothing but positivity.
