O’Malleys Irish pub in Phuket City

Chilled, laid back and usually pretty quiet. O’Malleys is a decent enough Irish pub in Phuket City. It’s a little Irish-type bar spread over two stories in the middle of Phuket City. It’s not exactly the most lively spot to party at in Phuket, but it’s a cool place to hang out and catch a few drinks, chatting with friends or randoms.

The people there are a friendly bunch and the bar is becoming increasingly busy as time passes. Open from early morning, O’Malleys does an awesome all-day breakfast – one of the best breakfasts in Phuket – for 99 baht.

As with all Irish bars in Phuket, you can get draught beer and even cider. O’Malleys is probably best used as a place for daytime drinking in Phuket City or as somewhere to go before heading to one of Phuket’s more lively nightclubs. Drinks at O’Malleys are reasonably priced by Phuket City standards.

Blue Marina nightclub in Phuket City

Nightlife in Phuket City is fairly one-dimensional, with a focus on Thai bands and not much else. Blue Marina is one of the more popular clubs in Phuket City, attracting a large number of people most days of the week. On Fridays and Saturdays, this Phuket City nightclub is jam packed full of revelers, foreigners and Thais.

The drinks and cheap and a bottle won’t break the bank, but on a busy night, you won’t be able to move. If you’re new to clubbing in Phuket, Blue Marina is a decent enough nightspot to venture to. The club usually doesn’t have a cover charge, but you may have to show some ID.

Blue Marina is also one of the few bars and clubs in Phuket City that hosts special events with guest bands, such as Bodyslam and Endorphine. These nights are the most fun, but are always intensely busy. Arrive early.

9 Richter nightclub in Phuket City

Nightlife in Phuket takes on many forms. Right at the top of the local music scene in Phuket are clubs such as 9 Richters, where you can drink and dance to local bands and DJs. 9 Richter is one of the newest clubs in Phuket City and it’s a small venue that really only gets busy on the weekend.

Thai bands rattle through local favorites before a DJ comes out with the usual techno tunes to bring the night to a close. 9 Richter is a decent club in Phuket City that is cheap and friendly, usually with enough space to move, unlike some of the other clubs and bars in Phuket City.

9 Richter occasionally hosts special events with Thai bands such as Modern Dog. The crowd are generally a friendly bunch and foreigners are most welcome. 9 Richter closes at about 1 am. It’s a decent place to party in Phuket City.
