White Box is a hip little restaurant and bar in Phuket, not far from Patong. As the name suggests, the place is predominantly white and, well, in the shape of a large box. In terms of design and ambience, the venue is a cut above all the bars, clubs and restaurants in Patong. The top floor also has a decent view over Patong Bay.
Drinks are pretty expensive and the place has something of an upmarket feel about it, but you get what you pay for and the nightspot element of White Box is by no means a slouch among Phuket bars and clubs. The music policy at night varies. At the moment, White Box seems to be going through a hip hop phase, although at other times there have been DJs spinning house and electro.
There is a decent-sized dance floor and ample seating if it all gets a bit too much. Definitely one of the trendier nightspots in Phuket and around Patong. Some people seem to think that White Box is only a restaurant. It isn’t, which is why its owners promote it also as a nightclub when it suits.
On the restaurant side of things, the food is quite expensive, but suitably decadent, with dishes such as lobster ravioli and tuna tartar on the menu. White Box is a cool place to hang out at.

There are seemingly hundreds of bars and pubs in Patong, but Scruffy Murphy’s is better than most of them, if only because of the awesome band that plays there every night. Scruffy Murphy’s is an Irish bar in Patong that is busy pretty much every night. A large number of island residents frequent the pub, which is a surefire sign that it’s worth checking out.
The drinks aren’t all that cheap, but they serve draught beers, Guiness and even cans of cider. Scruffy Murphy’s is definitely among the more interesting pubs in Patong. The band, fronted by an energetic Filipino lady and a dude with a violin, plays various covers and even the occasional Jewish track. Expect to hear lots of U2 and perhaps the odd Tina Turner hit (that girl can really sing).
Scruffy Murphy’s is a great Patong bar for pre-club drinks. The place is open during the day, too, and serves decent pub food.
Note: Saxophone is unfortunately no longer with us.

Jazz bars in Patong are a rarity, but if you don’t mind paying a bit over the odds for your drinks, Saxophone bar is a worthy establishment. The place is huge – perhaps too big – and there are pool tables upstairs. This Patong jazz bar can feel a bit lifeless if it isn’t busy.
As Phuket jazz bars go, you don’t have much to choose from, so you have to make the most of it really. The band are usually pretty good, but they do sometimes border on the dreary with their vacant expressions.
The crowd is generally full of older tourists enjoying their meals. The food is good but, once again, expensive. This is definitely not a cheap place to eat or drink in Patong. You probably won’t want to spend all night at Saxophone, but for a quiet drink it’s not a bad haunt.
Late nights out in Patong usually end up at one of Phuket’s main after-hours spots. Safari is loud, obnoxious and a lot of fun if you’re in the right frame of mind. It’s one of the only bars in and around Patong that stays open late and let’s you do such odd nighttime actitvieis as rock climbing.
The people who end up at Safari are usually the people who are too drunk to remember how to get home. The music is usually danceable, ranging from hip hop to standard dance music beats. If you’re male and in need of a late-night date in Patong, this is pretty much the last-chance saloon and you’ll find numerous desperate bar girls on the prowl for drunk tourists.
Safari is a decent Phuket after-hours club that also let’s you dunk ladyboys in enormous tubs of water. You have to see it.
Tiger is a large Patong disco that is either your vision of clubbing heaven or clubbing hell. Tiger nightclub is similar to Seduction, with a packed dance floor all bopping away to hip hop and standard party tunes. Tiger disco is one of the more lively places to party in Patong, attracting massive crowds of tourists, expats, locals and, of course, ladyboys and bar girls.
Located on Bangla Road, Tiger pretty much guarantees a fun night with cheap drinks. If all you want to do in Patong is drink and dance, you can’t go far wrong with Tiger.
It’s certainly not the most sophisticated club in Patong, but it does the job and can be a lot of fun if you’re out on the town with a large group of friends. Tiger carries a cover charge on most nights and on Fridays and Saturdays, it’s incredibly busy.

Probably the most popular nightclub in Patong, if not the whole of Phuket. Suduction Discoteque is renowned for churning out hip hop and dance music in Patong. Seduction in Patong doesn’t usually get busy until after 11 pm, when the hordes of tourists and locals start piling in.
Seduction has the benefit of featuring two floors and the music usually progresses from hip hop to electro, house and other dance music beats. As far as Patong clubs go, this one is all right if you’re drunk and in the mood for dancing.
The Patong club scene is based around clubs like Seduction, so you may as well check it out and see if you like it. The drinks are fairly priced and there is usually a happy hour at 11 pm when spirits become super cheap.
Seduciton is another Patong club that usually has a cover charge, It’s generally not very much, but it’s a charge nonetheless.
Wanna check out a beach party in Phuket? There aren’t as many beach parties in Phuket as you might think, but during high season, until the beginning of May when the rain hits the island, the best beach party in Phuket is Soundwave Sundays at Laem Sing Beach.
Laem Sing Beach is a cool place to hangout, not far from Patong. Soundwave Sundays beach party features decent dance music, with local DJs playing everything from house and electro music to breaks and techno — a rarity for most clubs in Phuket.
Clubbing in Phuket is all the more fun when you’re outside. The beach parties usually kick off late afternoon and go on until people decide they’ve had enough. The people at the beach parties are pretty cool and made up of mostly expats and locals, with a few tourists here and there. Soundwave Sundays is a shining beacon in Phuket nightlife and Laem Sing Beach is not far from the bars and clubs in Patong.
Out of the way of most of the bars in Patong, this casual restaurant-cum-nightspot is where the local hipsters and wannabes hang out before heading out to one of the main clubs in Patong. It’s usually used a place for pre-club drinks by people who then head out to Club Lime.
The drinks are expensive, but the ambience is refreshing, with finger food or a full menu if you’re hungry. During high season, BYD Lofts hosts a few parties that usually attracts a decent-sized crowd. There are regular appearances by DJs and live music vocalists, such as local favourite Bonnie Anderson.
BYD Lofts is one of the more appealing restaurants and bars in Patong, but it can be a little too laid back for its own good. Worth a visit if you’re looking for a spot in Patong that isn’t full of sweaty tourists and gyrating go-go dancers.
The food is rather good if you fancy splashing out a bit on various Western dishes: pasta, salad, burgers, steaks and so on.

Located within walking distance of the original Rock City, Patong has a second version of the popular pub for rockers to enjoy nostalgic rock ’n’ roll hits. The music policy is near identical to the original Rock City, with several bands serving up rock music covers throughout the night. The tunes at Rock City 2 are a bit more up to date, with songs by bands such as Evanesence and Green Day.
Rock City in Patong is one of the few nightclubs that can really deliver Western rock music. If you’re a fan of rock and indie, this is a decent place to go. Rock City 2 is about the same size as the other Rock City, with ample seating for partygoers. Drinks are perhaps a bit expensive, but the atmosphere is always buzzing.
Both the Rock Citys are among the more popular clubs in Patong, so expect the seats to be filled early on weekend nights.
Get your rocks at this famous Patong nightspot. Ask any rocker where to party in Patong and he or she will point you in the direction of Rock City. The place isn’t exactly cutting edge, but the music is decent, played by several bands over the course of the night.
As the name suggests, the Phuket club is all about rock — and it comes in the form of Metallica, ACDC, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and so on. There aren’t too many places that play Western rock music in Phuket, but Rock City does a good job of making up for that.
The bands play every night and Rock City is busy as anywhere on weekends. The beer is reasonably priced but the food is not among the best in Patong. Rock City is also one of those places that attracts a bevy of attractive Thai girls who love to dance.
