Accommodation: Five Great Hotels in Patong

July 10th, 2009  Posted by Phuket Vogue

While searching for the kind of accommodation Patong is well known for, it’s important to remember that just because a hotel or resort says “Phuket” in the name, doesn’t mean it’s located only in Phuket Town, or on the beach. Patong is located in Phuket Island, so many hotels in Patong are below par and nothing to get excited about, so you have to search to find the good ones. Patong is actually more of a village, but with all the tourism, it is quickly growing to accommodate everyone!

1. Impiana Phuket Cabana – The jewel of accommodation Patong has become renowned for is the Impiana Resort, which is the only location that can actually pride itself on being directly situated on Patong Beach. This Patong hotel is actually comprised entirely of private bungalows, perfect for a romantic escape, for couples of all ages. Hotels in Patong rarely come as exquisite as this. There’s also the on-site pool, and an on site restaurant, situated within a beautiful authentic modern Thai decorated atmosphere.

2. Holiday Inn Resort – The Holiday is known the world over for always providing more than perfect amenities, and the kind of traditional accommodation Patong visitors expect. So what can one expect but the absolute best, in the resort destination as great as Patong Beach? There are six on site pools, one devoted entirely to kids’ activities, on site restaurants, and two different wings. The main wing caters to families, while the other primarily to couples; so while families and kids can enjoy accommodation services specifically made for them, couples can enjoy a more romantic setting.

3. Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort – Beautiful views of Patong Bay are only part of what’s offered at the Le Meridien Resort; this five-star establishment not only includes plenty of amenities and activities for adults, but also for kids! It’s one of the better hotels in Patong. While couples, singles and parents can enjoy activities on the beach, or in the hotel such as top notch spa treatment, fine dining, and even an outing on the resort’s private yacht, kids can enjoy spending the day with The Penguin Club, the resort’s premier kids’ club.

4. Novotel Phuket Resort – With features like seven on-site restaurants, the nearby Patong nightlife, three tiered swimming pools, and even a kids’ club for the younger guests, it’s hard to find fault with the Novotel Resort. This is an accommodation Patong can be proud of. There are activities for adults, such as tennis clubs, aerobics classes, and more. Don’t forget, every luxury amenity you can think of, and some you can’t! Beautiful sunset views over the Patong Bay make Novotel Resort perfect for romantic getaways as well.

5. Deevana Patong Resort & Spa – This resort is actually quite large; highly rated because it is like a private getaway; there isn’t nearly the same amount of traffic in and out of the resort, because of the way the rooms are divided among the twelve acres the resort encompasses. The grounds around the resort are modeled gardens, in a fitting tropical design, full of lush plant-life. The busy atmosphere of other hotels in Patong is not the same at the Deevana Patong Resort; there are separate wings for spa rooms, which include private Jacuzzi baths.

How To Find the Perfect Patong Beach Hotel

July 10th, 2009  Posted by Phuket Vogue

Finding the perfect Patong hotel might seem like a Herculean task; after all, it’s just like any other vacation, and finding the hotel, making the reservations, it’s all so stressful, right? Wrong; relax, we can get you through this on your way to Patong Beach.

Actually, the accommodation part of your trip, you know, the part where you pick a spot where you, your family, or just you and a hot date, can sleep and recuperate, — it’s not all that hard to choose. It just requires a little bit of organization, and most of this can be done right from your laptop or desktop, with the aid of your favorite search engine, or travel site. So drag up your favorite word program, or a pen and paper, and let’s get started on finding the perfect Patong hotel.

First of all, make a list of the people you’re bringing along; kids, pet, wife, girlfriend; family, or friends. Next, consider the things they can’t live without, their likes, and dislikes, or what they’ll most be looking forward to on the trip, and include yourself. Will you want to be close to the beach? Will there be a necessity for special amenities, in case you’re bringing young children or teens? Will your Patong hotel allow animals? What are the people coming along looking forward to the most? If you don’t know, ask them, and add it to your list. Believe it or not, you’ll probably have a little fun; just think of it as a pre-holiday survey.

Now, group together the most important bits of information, out of the list you’ve made, and take a look. Believe it or not, you’ve just described, with the help of your traveling companions, what kind of Patong hotel you’ll be needing. Apply this information to your search, which should already include your prerequisites for price, and location. Now you’re half done! Halfway into this guide, you might be thinking, why is all this necessary? Especially if you’ve never been to the Patong Beach area; this is mainly because Patong Beach is extremely popular with all kinds of tourists, and people with children need to be wary of the sex tourism that the area is popular for.

Likewise, people coming to Patong Beach for that specific reason, should be aware of which areas cater to their kind of entertainment; for example, knowing which hotels, and what quality of hotels, are closer to the more adult nightlife, is important information to have. Couples and newlyweds may seek out quieter areas of Patong Beach; if you’ve been to the area, don’t point and laugh! They do exist, and with a little research, romantic, uncrowded areas can be found. Others still, might prefer to be directly on the beach, but aren’t sure which part of the beach is most appropriate for their holiday; but remember to research. There’s a Patong Beach hotel for every vacation!

Phuket travel and Phuket accommodation

June 24th, 2009  Posted by Phuket Vogue

The southern part of Thailand is really beautiful and so you can understand why Phuket travel has become so popular in recent years. If you’re planning a trip to the island, there will be a number of things you’ll want to consider before you leave, not least of all what kind of Phuket accommodation you’re going to stay in.

Phuket travel is straightforward enough. It’s easy to get to the island either by plane at the international airport or else by bus or even boat. It’s also cheap to get to Phuket. So you arrive, you’re there and it’s time to find your Phuket accommodation.

Hopefully you will have some Phuket accommodation already booked. If you arrive at the airport then all you need to do is hop in a taxi. Although this is probably the most expensive form of Phuket travel to get around the island, it’s necessary unless your hotel or resort does airport transfers.

On the subject of Phuket accommodation, where are you going to stay? It’s a daunting decision. There are so many hotels and resorts and resort spas and spa resorts that it’s difficult to know where to start when it comes to planning Phuket travel. What we will say is that the hotel booking websites are your friends.

Read the reviews other users have posted about their Phuket travel experiences and see which Phuket accommodation choices get the best reviews. You can usually gauge whether or not you will like a hotel by checking the user feedback.

Also, when you actually get to booking your Phuket accommodation, don’t forget to shop around as the Phuket travel websites tend to have different prices from one to the next. You will also find that booking through one of these websites is usually cheaper than booking directly through the hotel itself.

When you’re on the island and you’ve got settled in your Phuket accommodation, you’re going to be thinking even more about Phuket travel and getting around the island to see all the beaches and sights and everything. Hotels will usually operate a taxi service, although this can be very expensive.

Regular taxis are almost as expensive. The best thing to do about Phuket travel is to hire yourself a car or a motorbike and make your own way around the island. Whatever kind of Phuket accommodation you stay in, the staff will be able to help you arrange your own transport without a doubt.

Save big on Phuket hotels and resorts

Twinpalms Hotel in Phuket

Here at Phuket Vogue, we can’t resist a great offer when we see one, especially if it can save our readers money on Phuket hotels. We’ve scoped out the five most popular Phuket hotels and resorts to bring you savings of up to 60%.

If you’re mulling the idea of visiting Phuket or you’re currently planning your next holiday, we hope savings on these Phuket hotels will help keep a bit of extra cash in your pocket to spend elsewhere on the island.

There really has never been a better time to visit Phuket. The island is unusually quiet so you can be assured of having more space on the beach, more room on the dance floors and more freedom on the roads. Here’s our rundown of the top five Phuket hotels and resorts.

  • A familiar favorite at Phuket Vogue, Indigo Pearl is one of the most stunning Phuket resorts you could ever hope to find. We don’t exactly keep it a secret how much we love Indigo Pearl. Located in the north of the island, away from the crowds and the bulk of the island’s development, Indigo Pearl is a huge resort modeled on elements from Phuket’s tin-mining past. It has two of the island’s top restaurants, a trendy cocktail bar and a great swimming pool. If you want luxury while in Phuket, this is it. The Sunday brunch is also a winner.
  • Another Phuket resort that we can’t stop raving about is the Thara Patong Beach Resort & Spa. Located in the bustling beach town of Patong, this resort is sufficiently secluded so you can escape the masses and find your own private hideaway. The spa is an ideal place to go if you fancy nothing more than loafing around and being pampered. Rates at this hotels are also the lowest out of our top five – a bargain if ever we’ve seen one.
  • Staying in Patong and we come to one of the most striking Phuket resorts around. The Millennium Resort is in a prime location in Patong, within walking distance of all the action, but as soon as you set foot on the resort’s grounds, you’ll forget about the outside world. The interior of this place will blow you away. It’s clear that Patong has come a long way from the time when it was a haven for backpackers.
  • Moving to Surin Beach for our next Phuket hotel, the Twinpalms Hotel offers 76 fine guestrooms complete with all the usual suspects in terms of amenities. The great thing about a hotel such as this one is its location. Surin Beach is fast becoming Phuket’s hotspot in terms of fine dining and hip parties. Have a massage, take a dip in the pool or try your hand at one of the watersports on offer.
  • This brings us to our final Phuket hotel. The Sawasdee Village Hotel is located in Kata, which is one of Phuket’s most popular beaches. Don’t let that put you off, however, because the beach is definitely worth making the effort to visit, even if you’re staying elsewhere. If you enjoy hanging 10, Kata is also home to Phuket’s surf community. Wireleess Internet, a swimming pool and spa are just a few of the facilities at this Phuket hotel.

Knowing that there are big savings to be had on Phuket hotels and resorts, booking a vacation in Phuket is a no-brainer. If you still need convincing, feel free to read through our information about Phuket’s beaches, islands, nightlife and restaurants. Otherwise, we’ll see you at the beach!

A Phuket resort worth checking out

February 17th, 2009  Posted by Phuket Vogue

There are more Phuket resorts than you could ever hope to visit in any one lifetime. Some of them are great, some of them are decidedly average. One Phuket resort that caught our attention recently is Villa Zolitude, which would make a great base for honeymooners or romancing couples.

Villa Zolitude is located near Chalong Bay. This is the kind of Phuket resort you dream of visiting. The place is beautiful, set away from the hustle and bustle, nestled in a hill with views out over the bay.

The accommodations at this Phuket resort are luxury villas with their own pools. Villa Zolitude is so peaceful and romantic. Every time we visit the resort we never fail to be taken aback by how charming it is.

The resort is quintessentially romantic. It’s just so peaceful. There’s a swimming pool, sun terrace, library, games room and much more. The spa received rave reviews in Phuket’s weekly newspaper the Phuket Gazette.

The restaurant at the resort serves up some decent food, including a variety of pasta and seafood dishes. There’s usually a band on in the evening and the restaurant is a great place to catch the sunset.

Villa Zolitude is a relative newcomer on the Phuket resort scene. It has some stiff competition from the likes of Sri Panwa at Cape Panwa. At the time of writing, villas at Villa Zolitude are going from $322 a night. Tempted?

Looking for the best Phuket resort

February 10th, 2009  Posted by Phuket Vogue

If you’re thinking of staying in one of the many Phuket resorts, you have a wealth of options available to you. Each Phuket resort is unique and some are simply stunning, so whichever one you choose, you’ll surely have a great stay in Phuket.

One Phuket resort that continues to stand out is the jaw-dropping Laguna Beach Resort. Somewhere between a lagoon and the Andaman Sea is this fine Phuket resort that comes with all the trimmings you could ever wish for. There is heaps to do at Laguna, including various sports. The resort even has its own water park.

The gardens are massive and you will probably find that there is a temptation to just stay on the resort’s grounds rather than getting out and exploring the island. There’s certainly nothing wrong with this, but you’ll miss out on a lot if you stay at your resort 24/7.

Laguna is a Phuket resort where you can really do what you want. There are ample leisure activities on offer as well as numerous spot where you can just chill out and relax.

Another Phuket resort vying for your attentions and your hard-earned cash is the Burasari Resort in Patong. Burasari is a beautiful resort with decidedly homely qualities. Floyd’s Brasserie is a decent restaurant and there are two swimming pools, as well as large outdoor areas.

Of course, there’s one Phuket resort that we couldn’t leave off the list: Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa. The Evason is a fine resort set on 64 acres of toprical gardens. This is the place to go if you’re keen on responsible tourism and all things eco. Phuket resorts don’t come much more luxurious than Evason and the spa is well known around Thailand.

This is just a snapshot in the Phuket resort scene. Everyone has their favorite. What’s yours?

What’s the best hotel Phuket has to offer?

February 10th, 2009  Posted by Phuket Vogue

We’re usually inundated with questions about what we think is the best hotel Phuket has to offer. It’s a difficult decision really, but we have our favorites.

If you want to get swanky, we highly recommend Sri Panwa at Cape Panwa. If you know of a better hotel Phuket has, we’d like to hear about it. All right, Sri Panwa is more of a resort than a hotel, but it’s pretty damn special. It’s also the place where celebrities usually stay when they visit the island. Sri Panwa is a little community of luxury villas. If you have cash to splash, it’s certainly worth checking out.

Another hotel Phuket’s residents should be proud of is the Hilton Arcadia in Kata. That hotel is one of the most pleasant places you could possibly find to stay on the island. It’s also home to Phuket’s annual blues festival.

When thinking about the most unique hotel Phuket can offer, we’re temped to go with another resort: the Indigo Pearl resort in Nai Yang. You have to see it to believe it. Everything has been designed to reflect Phuket’s tin-mining past. The resort is an adventure in itself.

We’d love to hear what everyone else thinks is the best hotel Phuket and its visitors are treated to. We’ve gone for a few of the more upmarket places, but there’s no reason why you can’t have just as much fun and spend only a fraction of the money.

Choosing your Phuket accommodation

January 30th, 2009  Posted by Phuket Vogue

The choice you make when it comes to Phuket accommodation can be enough to make or break your holiday on the island. If you’re a first-time visitor then you will no doubt be overwhelmed by the volume of websites serving up information about Phuket accommodation. We should know – we were first-time visitors once before.

Although Phuket has evolved into some kind of luxury island where people go to visit spas and be pampered, it’s important to remember that you don’t have to spend a fortune on your Phuket accommodation. The island still has that backpacker vibe going on.

When we first visited the island, the Phuket accommodation we chose was a 400-baht hotel room in Phuket Town. The room was shared between two people, so it ended up being 200 baht a night each. We had aircon, a television, beds and a bathroom. What more do you really need?

If you’re traveling with a family then sure, you’re going to want more from your Phuket accommodation, but as a solo traveler or someone traveling with friends, you don’t have to splurge. The prices of some of the accommodations in Phuket can be frightening if you’re on a tight budget. Take Sri Panwa, for example, which has villas from about $700 a night. We’re not even going to tell you how much the villas at Villa Zolitude in Chalong go for.

We like to keep things simple when it comes to Phuket accommodation, so that’s why we’d probably stay in Phuket Town if we were visiting the island for the first time. But this is all horses for courses. Be sure to check out our pages about Phuket hotels and Patong hotels for more information.
