We think this is a great idea. On April 11 at midnight, a 24-hour beach football competition will kick off at Karon, Patong and Kamala. There will be separate competition for tourists and locals and anything up to 120 teams are expected to take part.

We’re very excited about this already. This is the kind of event that Phuket needs more of. It gets travelers, locals and expats involved in something fun and worthwhile. Hopefully this will be become an annual event

This five-a-side tournament is a fantastic way to get things rolling before all hell breaks lose for Songkran. The only problem we have with beach soccer is that ogling blokes kicking a ball around in the sun is nowhere near as interesting as watching the beach babes playing the FIVB beach volleyball tournament in Karon every year.
